Angelo’s Basil Pesto

Using fresh Basil, straight from the farm, Angelo’s has produced a thick chunky traditional style pesto that, once tried, will have you reaching for more.

Traditionally, pesto has been used as an alternate to a tomato based pasta sauce. Angelo’s Basil pesto is full of flavour and packed with all the good stuff. This little green wonder sauce is so versatile, don’t hesitate to add it to your next meal or try some of the following.

• With eggs – For a delicious twist on breakfast, drizzle over breakfast eggs or add a teaspoon to eggs and scramble.
• Pasta sauce – Toss through freshly cooked pasta or make a creamy pasta sauce (remember only use pure cream!)
• Morning or Afternoon Tea – Smear on bruschetta topped with Meredith Marinated Goat’s Cheese (which we also stock at Angelo’s.
• Replace pizza sauce – Spread over an Angelo’s pizza base, top with sliced Bocconi or Buffalo Mozzarella and smoked Salmon, place in oven.
• Salad dressing – Add to olive oil and lemon juice and pour over pasta for a delicious summer pasta salad dressing.
• Steamed vegetables – Toss through steam veggies.
• Sandwich topping – Mix with mayo and spread on a sandwich or flat bread then add grilled chicken and shredded lettuce and carrot.
• Meatballs – Add a couple of teaspoons to your favourite meatball mix for fuller flavoured meatballs.
• Garnish – Add a teaspoon to grilled steak, pork chops or chicken just before serving or add a dollop of pesto to your pumpkin soup before serving.
• Baked salmon parcel – On lightly oiled aluminium foil (alfoil), place fresh Salmon (skin side down), top with Angelo’s basil pesto. Bring sides of aluminium foil together making a bag and place in oven until Salmon is cooked. Serve with Peperonata or steamed potatoes.
• Potatoes – Mix pesto through sour cream, cottage cheese, guacamole or Greek yoghurt and add to freshly steamed potatoes.
